Netflix will be premiering “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” on October 31st, just in time for Halloween. This superhero sequel, originally released in theaters this May by Sony Pictures, became a massive success, earning $381 million in North America and $690 million worldwide. It quickly outperformed its predecessor, “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” which had a total worldwide gross of $384 million. The film, directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Justin K. Thompson, and Kemp Powers, continues the story of Miles Morales, the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, as he traverses the Multiverse and teams up with other Spider-People to protect their existence. The voice cast includes Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Brian Tyree Henry, Jake Johnson, Jason Schwartzman, and Issa Rae.
“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is part of Netflix’s lineup of family-friendly films for the fall and winter, which also includes titles like “Best Christmas Ever,” “Leo,” “Family Switch,” and “Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget.”
This move to stream “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” on Netflix is made possible through Sony Pictures’ licensing agreement with the streaming service, making it available exclusively in the United States. The third installment, “Beyond the Spider-Verse,” is slated to hit theaters in 2024.
